Sister Atanasia, formerly Mária Holubová, was born in the village of Svetlice near Humenné. She graduated from the Secondary Medical School in Prešov, where, while studying there, she felt the call of faith. After graduation, she joined the Institute of Social Care in Bardejov, where the nuns of the Order of St. Basil the Great worked as well. In 1972 she secretly entered the novitiate and in 1973 she made her first religious vows. She received her university education at the Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology in Spišské Podhradie. She works in the Roma housing estate Poštárka in Bardejov in a kindergarten and primary school.
The author of the photo is a Romani photographer Jozef Ferenc. Digital photography was taken in 2005 in Bardejov during an interview about Christmas activities at Poštárka.
