The tenth portrait was created in the premises of the Documentation and Information Centre of the Roma Culture. The person depicted in the portrait is Joaquín Cortés, a ballet and flamenco dancer. He was one of the best composers of jazz music and he is regarded to be the founder of the Roma jazz interpretation called also gypsy jazz, gypsy swing or French Manouché jazz. The mother of Ch. Chaplin came from the community of Romani blacksmiths. He tried to spend as much time with the Roma people as possible and “shaped” his film character based on his own perception of Roma life.
