Kmeťoband - real romani music

Kmeťoband - the group founded in 1999 by Igor Kmeťo Sr. and Igor Kmeťo Jr. They are father and son. Kmeťo Sr. is also the manager of group, Kmeťo Jr. plays the synthesizer, saxophone, he sings and he´s also making own musical arrangements. Their songs are based on the life experiences and situations, such as love, sorrow, life of youngsters. They became well-known also thanks to the successful cooperation with famous rapper "Rytmus". The songs are full of temperament and emotions. The genre of their music falls into the cathegory of rom-pop with a dominance of dance music. The interview reflects personal opinions of Igor Kmeťo Sr. and Igor Kmeťo Jr. about Romani music, its various forms, history, its development and current trends.

Martin Kaleja - the process of painting

Martin Kaleja-Januv (1984-) was born in a Roma settlement in Jarovnice where he lives. His relation to fine arts was built during his years in elementary school, under the guidance of  Art Education teacher, Jan Sajko. He continued his studies at the Secondary School of Arts in Presov, in the field of design and woodcarving. Besides painting and drawing he keeps woodcarving, in which the religious motives  dominate. The e-born documents the process drawing a portrait using the charcoal drawing techniques. Martin Kaleja-Januv works at the local elementary school in Jarovnice as a teacher's assistant.

Devilish Csapash

The theatrical premiere titled The Devilish Csapash intends to introduce to young viewers the school environment they will find when starting their schooling. As the opposite to the real school, there is a very lively picture of the Devils' school in hell brought up to the stage. That school specifics are rewards given for late arrivals, getting the worst marks, etc.  All the explicitely poised characters, both of positive and negative nature, show what sort of behaviour is accepted in school environment as well as other. Genre: musical, fairy-tale, Language: Slovak, Scene: classical. The play is interactive.

Jozef Fečo - the process of painting

Jozef Fečo paints a portrait. The video documents the process of painting the said portrait. The portayed person is Joaquín Cortes, the dancer (ballet, flamenco, fusion of dancing styles), born in 1969 in Spain, well-know through his successful cooperation with many stars of current popular culture. Format: 120 cm in width, 100 cm in height. Painted on gypsum plasterboard. Technique: painting, black - grey - white colour spectrum. Style: pop-art. The work is a part of the series of thirteen portraits of popular, world-known personalities of the Romani origin, produced in the framework of the priority project supported by the Ministry of Culture of SR, named The Live Books: A Word - A Picture - Sound, painted in the period of 2015/04 - 2015/05.

Two days with Tibor Oláh

Tibor Oláh is an amateur artist, living and working in Plešivec village. He was born in Detva, as one of 8 siblings. He was brought to fine arts by his brother Dušan Oláh. His favourite theme is nature - landscapes and village settlements. His work is characterized by bold colours. He paints on canvas and also on hardboard. He says he´s painting what he remembers from his childhood. He often records the inspiring nature on video. This digital object catches painting of Roma settlement Pastovník in Detva, where he spent his childhood. The painting was made as an illustration for Romano Nevo Ľil newspapers.

Romathan - Csardas Virtuoso

The 65th premiere of Romathan Theatre was marked as in "a new dress". The program was conceived as a combination of music, dancing, singing and of a theatre orchestra separate stage displays. One of these displays is a song called The Virtuoso Csárdás.

The Live Library Project: Roma Music in Slovakia with Eugen Vizváry

The Live Libraries, as a method, offer an opportunity to know the personal stories of interesting people, who are almost unknown to the majority audience. The purpose is to promote the identity of Romani national minority and on the other side to introduce the Romani people as an national minority with a rich cultural tradition. The second of a series "Live Books 2015" organized by State Scientific Library in Prešov, held on 22. June 2015 in Wave Club in Prešov, this time discussing about the Romani music in Slovakia. The main guest was music producer, composer, pianist Eugen Vizváry, one of the most requested Slovak musician, who devotes to the music genres of Jazz, Funky, Fusion Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, Country, Classic. The event was accompanied by the Cimbalom folk Ensemble - Ďusi Band from Prešov (Július Bandy Sr., Július Bandy Jr., Peter Ferko, Kristián Bandy + Samko Bandy) and singers Žaneta Štipáková and Vanessa Siváková.
