Gypsy Jazz Festival

The 4th year of the Gypsy Jazz Festival, which main organizer is a well-known musician - saxofon player, composer, band leader and promoter Miloslav Suchomel was held on February 2, 2015 in Bratislava at the theater Nová Scéna. Suchomel left behind the original festival form of individual concerts and the visitors were offered a comprehensive performance of his 30 members orchestra with jazz and string sections (the latter lead by the concert master of the Slovak National Theater, Arpád Patkoló), which gave place to several guest stars: the American singer Gail Anderson and the Romani singer Dotschy Reinhardt as the singing stars, followed by another American, a saxofon player Bill Evans. The styled Romani dance was performed by the dancers' group of Simona Horváthová. Music of the festival oscilated between the genres, mainly those of jazz, latino, oriental music and creations growing from the traditional Romani jazz. The festival was accompanied by the exhibition of fine art produced by academic painters Vladislav Zabel, Pavel Pokorný and Jozef Srna jr. The paintings were offered to the visitors for possible purchase.

Duo Farsa - Milonga

Audio recording contains the public performance of a guitar duo, Duo Farsa. Guitar duo plays self composed emotional songs of different genres, with a dominance of spanish rhythms of flamenco. Duo is composed of two virtuoso Roma musicians, František Godla and Dušan Onody from Sabinov. Their song Milonga was inspired by Jorge Cardoso´s - Milonga. It has an emotional significance. Performers begin every concert with this song as a tribute to their parents, grandparents.

Joaquín Cortés

Jozef Fečo is an amateur graphic artist who graduated at the Secondary Art School in Prešov. He studied wood design and carving. In 2011, he actively started to create his own works with his first work being the painting of Jesus on canvas. A series of ten fine art portraits of world famous personalities was created within the priority project "Live Books (word – video – audio)" supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic in April and May 2015. The artist Jofe Fečo prepared 9 portraits in his home environment in the village of Kračúnovce. The tenth portrait was created in the premises of the Documentation and Information Centre of the Roma Culture. The person depicted in the portrait is Joaquín Cortés, a ballet and flamenco dancer. He was born in 1969 in Spain. When creating dance choreographies, he cooperated with important world pop music figures. Picture dimensions. Picture dimensions: 120cm (š) x 100cm (v). The underlying material is plasterboard. Fine art technique used: pop art - street art.
