The civic association In Minorita has been engaged in research in the field of the Roma Holocaust in Slovakia since 2005. In partnership with the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak National Museum and the Institute of Ethnology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, it has prepared the Ma bisteren! Project. As a part of the project, 7 monuments and memorial plaques were installed in the Slovak Republic in 2005-2007. In 2019, the 8th memorial plaque in a row was installed.
During the first half of 2020 our library, in cooperation with the In Minorita Association documented the memorial sites so that they can be presented in their virtual form. Each part showing a particular memorial site contains written information about its authors, dates of their installment as well as the dates of the historical events. The memorial sites are precisely mapped and displayed on the map of Slovakia.
Those interested in the topic of the Roma Holocaust can visit all memorial sites in virtual reality from the comfort of their home and thus obtain sufficient information about war events.
The virtual tour also includes a quiz for primary and secondary school students, which we created in cooperation with the Methodological and Pedagogical Center in Prešov.
The virtual tour is available in Slovak, Romani and English.
The digital object displays the photos of each memorial sites and monuments.
