V Aušvici je veľký dom
V Aušvici je veľký dom,
býva tam môj milý.
Sedí, sedí a premýšľa,
a na mňa už zabúda.
A to čierne vtáčatko
odnáša môj list.
Nesie ho, nesie mojej žene,
že som v Aušvici zatvorený.
V Aušvici je veľký hlad,
a jesť nieto čoho.
Ani len ten kúsok chleba,
Jaj, či je len môj muž nešťastný.
Big House in Auschwitz
Big house is in Auschwitz,
Where my lover dwells.
Sitting, sitting there he thinks,
Slowly forgetting about me.
The black birdie
Takes away my letter.
Flies, flies to my wife,
To tell I am in Auschwitz, arrested.
In Auschwitz there’s great hunger,
We are all starving.
Neither a slice of bread we have,
Oh, my unhappy husband
