Erika Šajgalová is an artist who grew up in an orphanage, she lives and works in Poprad. In 2003, she started attending the Secondary Art School in Košice, successfully graduating in the field of Design - working with wood. She later graduated from the Secondary Pedagogical School in Košice, as she wanted to work with preschool children. She is a talented portraitist, she prefers to portray children. She illustrated additional textbooks for children: Children's Syllabary and Merry Letters. She also exhibited her work in exhibitions organized by the Jekhetane-Spolu Civic Association under the direction of Daniela Hivešová-Šilanová.
A documentary film made by the Košice based film company ATARAX called ERIKA portrays the story of her life and her strong desire for education.
The author of the photo is a Romani photographer Jozef Ferenc. Digital photography was created in 2006 in Rimavská Sobota during the presentation of film documentaries about four Roma artists.
