The Live Library Project: The Romani Language

The Live Libraries, as a method, offer an opportunity to know the personal stories of interesting people, who are almost unknown to the majority audience. The purpose is to promote the identity of Romani national minority and on the other side to introduce the Romani people as an national minority with a rich cultural tradition. The fourth in a series "Live Books 2015" organized by State Scientific Library in Prešov, held on 7. Novembre 2015 in Wave Club in Prešov and the theme was Romani language. The guests of the event were Jarmila Vaňová and Stanislav Cina. The musical guest was the violinist Barbora Botošová with the band Bohémiens.

M.A. Stanislav Cina graduated from the Faculty of Education on Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, his study programme was Education in primary school. He still is involved in pedagogy, as a college teacher, where he focuses mainly on Romani language. In 2008 he was among the signatories of the Romani language Standardization in Slovakia. He is an author of several publications for the teachers of socially disadvantaged children, textbooks for primary and secondary schools, many scientific articles and contributions in Slovak and foreign monographs and periodicals, conference proceedings, he is an co-author of Slovak-Romani and Romani-Slovak dictionary. At present he works at the Office of the Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Government for Roma Communities in Prešov.
