The photo from the archive of the NGO Jekhetane-Spolu captures Vincent Danihel who became a publically known figure due to his work as the plenipotentiary of Slovak Republic for Solution of Problems of the Romani Minority, the function performed from 1991 to 2001.
The place, date and author of the photograph are not documented with the analogue film. Based on the content of the photos it is possible to assume the year was 1998, as the film also contains the photos of the first Romani mayor of the city district Lunik IX, Košice.
JUDr. Vincent Danihel was born in the village of Kuklov, the Malacky district in a large Romani family. He became a lawyer, he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava. In 1990 he became the editor-in-chief of the first Romani print magazine in then Czechoslovakia titled Lačho lav (Good Word), which later changed its title to Amaro lav (Our Work).
In the years 1990 – 1992, he was a member of the Federal Assembly of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic (ČSFR), the House of People. He was a candidate of the Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS), later the Democratic Left Party (SDĽ).
