Painting of people and animals, dominated by two colors - pink and yellow. The painting shows children looking at piglets through a fence. The painting was created by Dávid Kukurica from the Primary School in Jarovnice, no. 192. Tempera painting on a drawing in A3 format, created in 2019. On the back of the drawing is a label with identification information about the school, the author and the title of the painting in English.The school is known for winning many awards for the art work of its students, both at home and abroad (India, Japan, Portugal, USA, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Northern Macedonia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iran, etc.). The pupils are taught by Mgr. Ján Sajko. They exhibited independently in many cities, e.g. in Washington D.C., Boston, Palm Beach, Hannover, Strassbourg, Brussels, Graz, Warsaw, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Cracow, Bratislava, Košice, Martin, Prešov, Sabinov. The young authors come from socially disadvantaged environment.

Portrait

The portrait of a man, two dominating colours – blue and brick colour. The painting is painted with tempera colour, by Jaroslav Červeňák from the Elementary School in 192 Jarovnice. The painting with tempera colours on paper, A3 format, made in 2015. The label with identification data about school, author and name of the work in English is placed on the backside of the painting.

Romathan - Music Practice

A series of photographs that document the music practice of the Romathan Theater Orchestra.
The Romathan Theater was established by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic in May 1992 in Košice. Since 1 January 2002, in connection with the transformation of regions, the theater is in the management of the Košice Self-Governing Region.

Vilko in the Forest Kingdom

The Romathan Theatre presented musical fairy tale for preschool and younger school aged children, named Vilko in the Forest Kingdom. The goal of the performance is to show that a good is always needed in the world of humans. The story is placed in a forest, so the children can meet with the animals, who are the carriers of the positive human  characters.

Ivan Šarközy – The Blacksmith Shop

Ivan Šarközy comes from the smiths' family. Born in Dunajska Luzna, works in the family blacksmithery. His qualifications is the ship machinist, he never worked in the field. He is the artist smith.

The Woodcarvers Čičava Ján Goroľ

A short story by the amateur woodcarver Ján Goroľ about the way to woodcarving. He worked as a locksmith, with no real desire to work with wood. He got to the craft workshop and carving thanks to the Fellowship of the Apostle Paul and the priest, Martin Mekel. In the video he talks about the connection between Christian religion and craft. In the video he also says that who can draw, can become a woodcarver as well. When drawing, the most difficult is to portray the eyes and nose properly. He also describes the work on specific works.
Ján Goroľ is a member of the gospel band LOND.
The story was created in 2013 during the documentation of the craft workshop ROMA ART Čičava. The sheltered workshop was established in 2012, initiated by Martin Mekel.

Marián Balog

Marian Balog is a founder of the civil organisation Romani Literary Club made in 2009 of which he is also an active member. The Club presents literary works of Roma about Roma.

Ivan Veselý

Ivan Veselý was born in Eastern Slovakia, in the Romani settlement in Smižany. He is the oldest of five siblings. He graduated from the Middle Army School in Martin, until 1989 worked as a professional soldier in Czech Republic. In 1989, because of his critical views of the military leadership he was degraded from rank and discharged from the army. He later worked as a worker. After the change of the regime he was militarilly rehabilitated. He is a founder of the NGO Dženo, years-long member and functionary of the International Romani Union (IRU), as well as a member of various international committees for Romani emancipation. He was also a vicechair of the Romani Civil Initiative. The photograph was made during interview in 2013.
