Sofiya Zahova is the director of the Vigdís International Centre for Multilingualism and Intercultural Understanding at the University of Iceland. The centre operates under the auspices of UNESCO and is an affiliated organisation of the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute for Foreign Languages at the University of Iceland. Sofiya Zahova is primarily dedicated to the study and research of Romani literature in Europe and is a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She currently represents Iceland on the Steering Committee for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032. The interview is segmented into sections that briefly map her activities, milestones achieved and comments on the development of Romani literature. The organizer of the 4th annual conference The Current State of Roma Studies IV was the State Scientific Library in Prešov, the Documentation and Information Centre of Roma Culture. The co-organisers were the Centre of Social and Psychological Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Roma Studies of the University of Prešov. The conference was held on 7 and 8 December, 2023 in five panels, with a total of 23 papers. The hybrid format allowed the participation of scientists from abroad.
