Roma Palette

Roma Palette is a nationwide art competition for Roma pupils of primary schools, special schools and primary art school in Slovakia. Announcer of the competition is Podtatranské osvetové stredisko (Cultural Centre), Sobotské Square 1729/4, 058 01 Poprad. The competition aims to encourage and develop artistic creativity of Roma children, it offers other opportunities for spending free time of Roma children, fulfill their time with creativity, in groups of other children. Collection of awarded artworks of 2013. The theme of competition: The Circus. Results of the competition took place in the premises of POS in Poprad on 20.09.2013. The competition involved 93 schools in the first category and 114 in the second category of schools from all over Slovakia. The jury evaluated a total of 338 works in the 1st category, 669 works in the 2nd category. The competition is organized annually since 1991.

The President

The painted portrait of Andrej Kiska - the President of Slovak Republic, painted by Romani artist Jozef Fečo, was created as an illustration for the artical about the electing of slovak president, in Romano Nevo Ľil newspapers. Inspiration for the picture was a photograph of Andrej Kiska. Painted on plasterboard with dimensions 35 cm (H) x 71 cm (W), in 2014.

Róbert Rigó - Presentation of his own Smith Production

Igor Radič - smithy

Igor Radič was born in 1960 in Klenovec. He was interested in smithing since his childhood. After finishing the vocational school, he started to work as a smith in a collective farm in Klenovec. He was taught by the old smith masters. Since 1995, he's engaged in business. He´s an authorised representative of Roma Smithcraft Civic Association, which holds Smith Workshops. He´s doing both industrial smithery and smithcraft. A set of photographs, made by Documentation and Information Centre of Roma Culture, catches his smithy and also working process of an iron part of shepherd´s axe making.
