Koloman Gunár - Talking

Ing. Koloman Gunár comes from the village of Brekov, he was 71 at the time of the interview. From his father's side he comes from a family of musicians, after his mother he is from a family of blacksmiths. From 1967 to 1972 he was a student at the University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering in Bratislava, Department of Civil Engineering. He worked at the District Agricultural Administration in the investment department. In 1990, he co-founded a political party called the Roma Integration Party.
The regional history of the Roma living in the village of Brekov is the subject of audio recordings that DICRK obtained free of charge from researcher Elena Cinová. Her research project called Brekov Roma in the Flow of Time was supported in 2020 by the Fund for the Support of the Culture of National Minorities. Guided interviews are in Slovak and bring closer the life and culture of the Roma and their perception of social change in the region.

The painting of a musician. Painted by Kristián Husár, a pupil of the Primary School in 192 Jarovnice. Painted on drawing paper of A3 type, created in 2015. It depicts a male musician playing accordion.
On the back of the drawing is a label with identification information about the school, the author and the title of the painting in English.
The school is known for winning many awards for the art work of its students, both at home and abroad (India, Japan, Portugal, USA, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Northern Macedonia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iran, etc.). The pupils are taught by Mgr. Ján Sajko. They exhibited independently in many cities, e.g. in Washington D.C., Boston, Palm Beach, Hannover, Strassbourg, Brussels, Graz, Warsaw, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Cracow, Bratislava, Košice, Martin, Prešov, Sabinov. The young authors come from socially disadvantaged environment.a.

Štefan Cína's Folk Music Band is a musical ensemble composed of four musicians, founded in 2007. The founder was Štefan Cína senior. Today, the band consists of: Martina Ďuriková Cínová (violin, vocals), Štefan Cína Jr. (accordion, guitar, vocals), Štefan Vansač (dulcimer, vocals) and Peter Pavlík (double bass, vocals). Štefan Cína's folk music repertoire consists of traditional songs from all over Eastern Slovakia, but also Central Slovak and West Slovak songs. The video records the band playing the Roma songs: Me tut na kamav; Le more, e brača / I Don't Love You; Take the Viola, Lad.
