Albert Kovac

Albert Kovac (1978) spent his childhood in the village Sarovce nearby Levice. He completed the Secondary Grammar School (gymnasium) in Zeliezovce. He went on the University of Konstantin the Philosopher in Nitra where he graduated as social worker. His mother tongue is Hungarian. He is fluent in Slovak, English and German languages. He has passive knowledge of Romani language. He started working as mediator, since 2004 he worked as the project consultant employed by the Office of Plenipotentiary of Slovak Republic Government for Romani Communities in Rimavska Sobota.

Romathan - Lost Love

The theater performance for adult audience. Presented as 74th premiere of the Romathan Theatre. The show is set into the historical period of the early 19th century. The main motive is the forbidden love of a rural nobleman and a Roma woman. The story emphasis is on fatality and conflicting situations while following the further fate of the unlikely couple's daughter.

Gypsy Boxer - the theater performance

Gypsy Boxer is a monodrama picturing the life of the German boxer of Romani (Sinti) origin Johann Wilhelm Trollman, known under the name „Rukeli“. In Nazi Germany Rukeli became the lightweight champion. Later on, he was stripped of the title because of his ethnical origin. Johann Trollman was in 1943 deported to concentration camp Neuengamme, where he was murdered.

Viliam Šarközy Sn.

Viliam  Šarközy( 4.4.1939) is currently the oldest artistic smith in Dunajska Luzna. His smith products were many years sold by ULUV – the network of shops offering the folk art products. He is the author of many large sculptures; all of them made with great deal of artistic vision and smithery skill. His son Ivan follows his father’s footsteps.
Formerly, Dunajska Luzna was called the Iron Village. Smithery as a craft has more than 300 years long tradition there; until today being the place with the highest number of forges in Slovakia.

Romani Pilgrimage in Bielcza

In 1942 in Bielcza, Poland, the Germans murdered 41 Roma from the Kwiek family. They were nomadic Roma from Kalderash group. Their common grave is well cared by the local people.

Romani Pilgrimage in Borzęcin

In Poland, in the village Borzęcin at the local cemetery the memorial for 29 exhumed Roma was erected. They were murdered by Germans in 1942. Another memorial to these victims was created in the nearby forest, where the Roma were murdered by the Nazis.

Concert Luna

LUNA is the girls only band from Martin. Their repertoir covers both Romani and Slovak folk songs, many times they play also pop music in folk arrangment or classical music. These are the members of the band: Petra Cickova - accordeon, Božena Cickova - double bass, Michael Kazarova - violin, Stanislava Cickova - singer. The recording of the band performance was in June 7, 2013.

We went, we went

The female instrumental and vocal group LUNA played in Presov on June 7, 2013. The band consists, non typically of women only. It's members are four conservatory students, three of them play the instruments, the fourth is a lead singer. The presented digital cultural object is a record of their interpretation of the Romani anthem "Gelem, gelem". The LUNA band anthem playing style incorporates the folk music elements typical for Central Slovakia into the original composition.
