Michal Bársony - The Women

Born in the village Kunova Teplica, the district of Roznava. The family spoke Hungarian, and kept the tradition of smithery and music. He graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica, specialzed in fine arts and Russian language. The post-gradual studies completed at the Pedagogical Faculty of University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra, awarded with the title PeadDr. His main creation is painting and drawing, with prevailing themes of the sacral nature, as well as some women portraits and landscapes. As a pedagogue worked at several elementary and secondary schools, as well as at universities. He also worked for the State Institute Of Pedagogy. The video shows him describing the process of painting the concrete painting titled The Waggon, the technique and material used for it, as well as the background of how the theme and form were chosen. In the video he describes the process of creating a collection of paintings, the technique used, the material, and the idea behind the selection and presentation of the theme.

Tomáš Botló - speaking about the Romani music

Tomáš Botló -  a singer and musician, playing amateur guitar, playing piano mostly, studied at the State conservatory in Bratislava. He writes his own songs, he built his recording studio at home where he proved being an excellent sound mixer. Tomas mixis Romani music with modern genres such as jazz, funk, hip-hop, latino, flamenco, pop and this kind of genre syncretism makes him multi-cultural and multi-genre musician. He cooperated with several Slovak as well as foreign rappers and artists. His musical idol is George Benson. The video presents his talk about his muscial begginings, studies, principal influence shaping his musical production, or specific features and ways the Romani music in Slovakia takes.

Ms. Barbora Botosova

Barbora Botosova - the granddaughter of Jan Berky Mrenica sn., (the concert master of the Slovak Folk Arts Ensemble, serving for 33 years), the daughter of Eugen Botos sn. (the head violinst of the Violin Orchestra), the sister of Eugen Botos jn. (the known jazz pianist and composer). In the year 2012 Barbora Botosova graduated from the Higher School of Fine Arts in Bratislave, under the tutoring of Prof. Peter Michalica. Later, she completed the special course of composition lead by Lubica Cekovska. Nowadays perfomes as a free artist, playing in the orchestras Bohemiens and Women Rebels. In the interview speaks about her childhood, music, studies, her own creation, as well as about the current state of the Romani music and its historical context.

Art for Diversity

Recording of live performance, Wave Club, November 7, 2015. The concert titled Art for diversity is the unique project, presenting beauties, uniqueness and mutual relations between the various minority cultures within one evening. The compositions of the Romani, Jewish, Hungarian, Polish, Russian, Serbian, Ruthenian and Bulgarian origins, influenced by very popular world music style,  were played during the concert. All compositions are founded in the folk music of the national minorities, the were played in the specific, author's made arrangements. The leading musician of the band at the concert is a young first violinist, Barbora Botosova, the grand-daughter of the legendary musician Jan Berky Mrenica senior, and daughter of Eugen Botos. Agata Siemaszko - a singer, Marek Koncek - a violin, Jan Sivak - cimbalom, viola, Maros Sivak - a guitar, Tomas Gaspierik - contrabass.

Marco Pillo - Tell Me, Mother

Marco Pillo - the musician, singer and composer. Originally graduated as a cimbalom player, later he added guitar playing. During his studies in Barcelona, Spain, he met the local Romani flamenco music culture which made large impact on his future musical creation. As a music guest of the author's reading event of Dusan Onody (reading from his book of poetry For You, Only for You) he performed as a guitar player and singer. The song Tell Me, Mother, a popular song, was a part of his performance.
