In 1942 in Bielcza, Poland, the Germans murdered 41 Roma from the Kwiek family. They were nomadic Roma from Kalderash group. Their common grave is well cared by the local people.

Romani Pilgrimage in Borzęcin

In Poland, in the village Borzęcin at the local cemetery the memorial for 29 exhumed Roma was erected. They were murdered by Germans in 1942. Another memorial to these victims was created in the nearby forest, where the Roma were murdered by the Nazis.

During World War II, specifically in July 3, 1943 in Szczurowa in Poland, fascists assassinated 93 local Roma. This tragedy is commemorated by a memorial that is the first monument to the Roma Holocaust in the world.

Robert Rigó - Smith Symposium

Robert Rigó (1953) is the art smith from Dunajska Luzna. Handmaid smithed objects come from his forge and the shop Hefaiston. From small candelabra through grand stair rail to dominant gates. They can be found all over Slovakia as well as in many countries of the world. Robert Rigó focuses on traditional craft trying to preserve ancient Romani smithing motives and techniqes.
Robert Rigó is a chairperson of the Chartikano Association, the organiser of already 15th European Romani Smithing Syposium. The Chartikano Association in Smith Gallery introduces rich production of the smithing craft masters from Dunajska Luzna.
In the past Dunajska Luzna used to be known as the Iron Village. The smithery in there is carried for 300 years already, the largest number of forges in Slovakia active at the place till nowadays.

The Live Book - Women for Women

The Live Book - Women for Women was the event which took place in the Wave Club in Presov on 12th of April, 2017 in order to celebrate The World Roma Day. The guests were Mgr. Ildiko Gorova and Mgr. Gabriela Gaborova from the Vtackovce village. I. Gorova is a teacher at the local elementary school, G. Gaborova is the coordinator of the field social work, employed by the Office of Plenipotentiary of the SR Government for Romani communities.
The music guest was The Arpi Farkas Jazz Trio (Arpad Farkas - the piano, Angela Farkas - the singer, Adrian Sajko - double-bass)

The Gypsy Party

The Gypsy Bashavel (The Gypsy Party) is the festival of Romani culture which started in 2009 as one of the projects carried out by the Association Wild Poppy. It provides space for presentation of many of the amateur and professional Romani ensembles as well as for the stipend beneficiaries of Wild Poppy Association - the talented Romani children from all aver Slovakia. The festival is of multicultural character, organised in open-air setting. The event was recorded on 29th of August, 2013.

Karel Adam, DiS.art, (1953-) is a professional musician – first violinist, conductor and in the time of speaking the director (1998-2016) of the professional Romani Theater Romathan. After graduation from The State Conservatory in Košice he worked for art agencies Slovkoncert and Pragokoncert. In 1992 he joined the nascent Theater Romathan as a Chief Conductor of the Theater Orchestra. Karel Adam speaks about his childhood, about his beginnings and work in Theatre Romathan. He touches the gradual development of the Theatre and its´ values that actors perform and interpret to the audience. He speaks about terms as Romani music, Romani musical instruments, contemporary Romani music and authenticity.

Ján Sajko - On Fine Arts Talent in Jarovnice

Ivan Akimov, the musician with a Russian roots, growing up in France, living in Kežmarok, Slovak republic, professional leader of artistic ensemble for children Kesaj čhave. Kmeťoband - real romani music

Kmeťoband - the group founded in 1999 by Igor Kmeťo Sr. and Igor Kmeťo Jr. They are father and son. Kmeťo Sr. is also the manager of group, Kmeťo Jr. plays the synthesizer, saxophone, he sings and he´s also making own musical arrangements. Their songs are based on the life experiences and situations, such as love, sorrow, life of youngsters. They became well-known also thanks to the successful cooperation with famous rapper "Rytmus". The songs are full of temperament and emotions. The genre of their music falls into the cathegory of rom-pop with a dominance of dance music. The interview reflects personal opinions of Igor Kmeťo Sr. and Igor Kmeťo Jr. about Romani music, its various forms, history, its development and current trends.
