PaedDr. Gejza Adam, PhD. (born 1951 in Michalovce) is an important figure in the Roma emancipation movement in the former Czechoslovakia and subsequently, in the Slovak Republic. As a qualified teacher for the 1st grade of elementary schools (Faculty of Pedagogy, P.J. Šafárik University – a graduate), he participated in activities in the field of education of Romani children already around the mid-1980s. In the years 1989-1992, he was a member of the Public Against Violence (Verejnosť proti násiliu - VPN) movement, where he represented the Roma Citizens' Initiative platform (Rómska občianska iniciatíva – ROI). In the years 1990 – 1992, he was a member of the Federal Assembly of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic (FZ ČSFR). In 1998, he became a member of the Government Council for National Minorities and Ethnic Groups in the Slovak Republic, in 2000-2004 he was Commissioner for Roma Education within the International Romani Union (IRU). He continued his political work as the chairman of the Roma Coalition Party (Strana rómskej koalície – SRK) until 2020.
What can be considered as the greatest achievements of his career is the cooperation in the process of granting the status of a national minority to the Roma, the establishment of a network of private secondary schools (Private Secondary Pedagogical and Social Academy, Private Secondary Art School) where Romani language is taught as well as taught in, the establishment of the Detached Workplace of the University of Health Services and Social Work of St. Elisabeth in Košice of which he acted as the headperson.

Štefan Vansač

Štefan Vansač comes from Spišská Nová Ves. He studied cimbalom at the Conservatory in Košice. Currently he teaches music at the Elementary School of Arts in Spišská Nová Ves as well as at the Elementary School of Arts in Smižany. He is a member of the Štefan Cína’s Folklore Band since 2015, the band recorded a CD called Ja chlapec chudobni/I am a Poor Guy. The band composed and recorded part of soundtrack of the Slovak film Loli paradička/Red Tomato. The band also recorded the CDs of the Folklore Ensemble Orgonina, and the Folklore Group Jamničan. Together with the band, they took part in several large TV programs, in 2017 it was the TV show Zem spieva/The Earth Sings, in 2018 Československo má talent/Czechoslovakia has Talent.

Ján Jóny

Ján Jóny lives and works in Michalovce. From an early age he was taught to play the violin, but he acquired his musical education in playing wind instruments, first at the Military Conservatory in Roudnice nad Labem in the Czech Republic, where he studied playing the tuba, later at the Conservatory in Košice. For several years he worked as a member of the Military Music of the Slovak Armed Forces. Later he returned to playing the violin and started playing with several folk ensembles. Since 2014, he has been working at the Jurošík Private Elementary Art School in Michalovce as a music teacher and is currently also a member of Štefan Cína's folk music.

Alexander Daško

Alexander Daško was born in the settlement in Čierny Balog, the youngest of 13 children. According to his words, it was music which became his ticket into the world; which he both studies and performes since his childhood, being able to do so thanks to a strong sense of responsibility of his parents. Nowadays a musician well known not only in Slovakia has his own band, three children and a Russian wife. The family si, therefore, multicultural, speaking Romani, Slovak, Russian and English languages. He graduated from conservatoire in Žilina, later on from the Faculty of Pedagogy of Matej Bel University. In Banská Bystrica he has organised already 15 years of the event – the festival Gypsy Fire; he established his private musical school for talented Romani and non-Romani children.
