Vojtech Bunda comes from Košice, from a musical family. He has been playing the double bass since childhood. He played in the bands of many folklore ensembles in Košice (Železiar, Východniar, etc.). Playing music both in Slovakia and abroad, he gained musical skills and experienced various musical styles and genres. He is one of the founding members o fthe Romathan Theater, currently still being a part of the ensemble. He is a member of the group Kaschauer Klezmer Band and in many other groups.

Marek Michael Konček comes from the musical Konček family from the Turiec Region. He grew up in Martin, and his relationship with music was built from an early age. He studied at the Ján Levoslav Bella Conservatory in Banská Bystrica, completed his bachelor's studies at the Academy of Musical Arts in Bratislava, master's studies at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica and postgraduate studies in Krakow. He works in various musical researches and collaborations such as Slovak Chamber Theatre, Slovak National Theatre, Nová scéna, with artists from Slovakia and Poland. In the video interview, he talks about his family, his relationship with culture, education and the importance of culture in the life of a person, a nation. The recording was made on 10/11/2023 in the premises of the documentation and information center of Roma culture.

The vocal-instrumental composition is called The Sad Sunday. It is a Slovak version of the original Hungarian tragic song Szomorú vasárnap from 1933, composed by Seress Rezső (1899-1968).
The Slovak version of the song was sung by Dušan Deme.

He graduated from universities in Hungary and USA with the degrees in political science, economics and sociology. He was one of the advisors in the Most-Híd – the political party after what he became the party nominee for the post of the Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Romani Communities. He held the post from 2016 to 2020. He is a co-founder of the Purt organization, the one which organises the Romani, Hungarian and Slovak activists. He also served as the Executive Director of the Matej Bel Institute. Júlia Kozáková

The members of the band Manusha (People) are professional musicians. The music project had been initiated by the Slovak singer Julia Kozakova; the musicians are Lubomir Gaspar on cimbalom, Viliam Didias on violin, Vojtech “Belu” Botos on viola and Jan Rigo on double-bass. In 2022, with the support of the Fund for Development of the National Minorities’ Culture in SR, and The Bratislava Self-Governing Region, the band released the album with the same name. The album presents 10 songs – all of them are the traditional Romani songs, played in arrangements by Manusha.
In 2022, the Documentation and Information Centre of the Romani Culture began to document the Romani cimbalom bands, especially those which carry on the family musical tradition.
Júlia Kozáková is a singer and a leading person of the musical project Manusha. She studied ethnomusicology and social anthropology. She is also active in the education of youth in the field of music and singing. The profile interview.

Miroslav Pollák

RNDr. Miroslav Pollák - his involvement in the Romani issues started in 1998 as cooperation with several non-governmental and non-profit organisations. His research activities are focused on the study of social economy, community development, the poverty issues and systemic solutions to the social status of the marginalized groups. From 2010 to 2012 he served as the Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic government for the Romani communities. He has been active in the field of humnag rights for many years. As and activist and the chairman of the Krásny Spiš Civic Association, he designs and implements projects focused on violence and unfreedom during the 20th century. He organized dozens of exhibitions on the topic of exoduses and nationalities in Slovakia. He initiated the construction of a memorial to the victims of exodus in Slovakia and published several books in the field of human rights. Engaged cultural activities with a societal impact are carried out by him within the association Živá kultura.

Mgr. art Ľubomír Gašpar comes from Detva, currently lives and works in Bratislava. He studied cimbalom at the Ján Levoslav Bella Conservatory in Banská Bystrica, later at the Ján Albrecht Music and Art Academy in Banská Štiavnica. Currently, he is a student at JAMU in Brno. In addition to being a professional musician, he also works as a music teacher at the Dezider Kardoš Private Conservatory in Topoľčany. His musical direction is multi-genre, combining elements of folklore, classical music and jazz. He is part of several musical groups, e.g. SOLE, Ľubomír Gašpar Cimbal Project, with which he recorded two albums: The Point Of View, which won the Rádio Heads Award for the best album in the World Music category in 2017, and Ľubozvuk (2021). He is also a permanent member of the group Manuša, with whom they released an album of the same name in 2022.
