Lomnické čháve – Gelem, gelem (We Went, We Went)

The digital cultural object is a video recording of the interpretation of the Roma anthem Gelem, gelem, performed by the Lomnické čháve group, the performance was recorded on July 8, 2020 in Prešov. The Roma anthem was officially recognized in 1971 at the First World Roma Congress in London. The text was written by the Yugoslav composer Žarko Jovanovič to the tune of a traditional Romani song. The band Lomnické čháve interprets it as a fast song, which musically belongs to the rom-pop genre.

Štefan Cína's Folk Music Band is a musical ensemble composed of four musicians, founded in 2007. The founder was Štefan Cína senior. Today, the band consists of: Martina Ďuriková Cínová (violin, vocals), Štefan Cína Jr. (accordion, guitar, vocals), Štefan Vansač (dulcimer, vocals) and Peter Pavlík (double bass, vocals). Štefan Cína's folk music repertoire consists of traditional songs from all over Eastern Slovakia, but also Central Slovak and West Slovak songs. The video records the band playing the Roma songs: Me tut na kamav; Le more, e brača / I Don't Love You; Take the Viola, Lad. Milo Suchomel Orchestra - Jazz in The City 2.

Milo Suchomel is a teacher of music and active musician (saxophone), playing mainly various genres of jazz music. Between the years 1989 – 1995 he studied at the State Conservatory in Žilina, from 1997 to 2000 he attended the Conservatory in Bratislava. In 2001 he spent a year at study visit at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, USA. He is a regular member of several musical ensembles, composes concert compositions and music for film. His achievements brought him several prizes. The video is a recording of the concert Jazz in the City and Guests played in Babylon Club in Bratislava. The concert introduced the instrumental compositions, solo performance of the guests and singed songs.  The video offers the shortened version of the original concert – its second part broadcasted on RTVS in 2021.

Edith is a swing-jazz band that played a concert in Prešov in 2013. They focus on the interpretation of classical jazz and swing sung songs from the first half of the 20th century. Their repertoire also includes contemporary compositions of popular music in jazz arrangements. The output is a DKO from a recorded concert. Vlastimil Král - drums, Július Humeňanský - bass guitar, Pavel Vyjidáček - keyboards, Jozef Breza - guitar, Edita Kovářová - vocals, Adela Kovářová - vocals, guitar.
