The third year of the conference titled The Current State of Romani Studies III; the organizer was the State Scientific Library in Prešov, a documentation and information center of Romani culture. The Center of Social and Psychological Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Roma Studies of the Prešov University in Prešov collaborated. It was held on 1-2 December 2022 at the University of Prešov. The hybrid form enabled the participation of scientists from abroad as well. There were 23 contributions in five panels.
In the panel Roma in the historical-political discourse, a contribution entitled Political participation of Roma in Slovakia - trends and comparisons was made by Mgr. Ondřej Poduška from the National Democratic Institute. It analyzes the development in the field of political participation of Roma in local governments over the last ten years and the models of Roma participation in political life.

In the Language, Literature and Media Environment panel, Mgr. Martina Horňáková from the Foundation of Good Romani Fairy Kesaj presented the Romani Dictionary Online. Ďusi Band - The Romani Girl

The song "The Romani Girl" has no known author, but since World War II it has been considered the anthem of the Slovak Roma. The lyrics is directly related to the suffering of Roma in labor and extermination camps.
The family band called Ďusi Band consists of Július Bandy Sr. and his three sons Kristián, Július, and the youngest Samuel. The cimbalom band from Prešov presents the best tradition of the Romani cimbalom groups with the high interpretive art of their members as well as the scope and genre richness of their repertoire. It consists of folklore typically Romani but also Slovak and other nations‘ and nationalities‘, the band also plays classical music and does well in playing music of the genres such as jazz, pop or film tunes. The Romani song Čhajori romaňi in an instrumental version was recorded during the Living Book on the Holocaust event, in Prešov, on September 27, 2018.

Ján Jóny

Ján Jóny lives and works in Michalovce. From an early age he was taught to play the violin, but he acquired his musical education in playing wind instruments, first at the Military Conservatory in Roudnice nad Labem in the Czech Republic, where he studied playing the tuba, later at the Conservatory in Košice. For several years he worked as a member of the Military Music of the Slovak Armed Forces. Later he returned to playing the violin and started playing with several folk ensembles. Since 2014, he has been working at the Jurošík Private Elementary Art School in Michalovce as a music teacher and is currently also a member of Štefan Cína's folk music.

Dajori

The author's project of the theater group Ara Art Dajori (Mother) is a theater performance that maps stories and themes from the life of Roma women on the background of important historical milestones of the 20th century.
The script of the play combines the dramatization of existing literary works by writers Tera Fabiánová, Eva Danišová, Ilona Ferková and Katarina Židová with the telling of authentic personal stories.
The main character was played by the actress Pavlína Matiová, who plays four female characters and their stories taking place during almost the entire century in pre-war and post-war Czechoslovakia.
The actress is supported on stage by Michal Žolták and musicians Milan Kroka, Roman Zorba Horváth and Tibor Žida.

Michal Mižigár

Michal "Mižu" Mižigár is a descendant of a Romani family from Slovakia, which moved to Czech Republic from the villages of Upper Spiš after World War II. He graduated from the Bussiness Academy in Pisek, and continued his studies at the Charles University in Prague at the Faculty of Arts, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Roma Studies.
Currently, he is studying at the Central European University (formerly in Budapest, Hungary, later in Vienna, Austria) for a master's degree in comparative history. At the time of the interview, he worked in Great Britain in the team of the Roma of Great Abilities project, where he worked with teachers of Roma children from Czech Republic and Slovakia.
