The Live Book - Women for Women

The Live Book - Women for Women was the event which took place in the Wave Club in Presov on 12th of April, 2017 in order to celebrate The World Roma Day. The guests were Mgr. Ildiko Gorova and Mgr. Gabriela Gaborova from the Vtackovce village. I. Gorova is a teacher at the local elementary school, G. Gaborova is the coordinator of the field social work, employed by the Office of Plenipotentiary of the SR Government for Romani communities.
The music guest was The Arpi Farkas Jazz Trio (Arpad Farkas - the piano, Angela Farkas - the singer, Adrian Sajko - double-bass)

The Gypsy Party

The Gypsy Bashavel (The Gypsy Party) is the festival of Romani culture which started in 2009 as one of the projects carried out by the Association Wild Poppy. It provides space for presentation of many of the amateur and professional Romani ensembles as well as for the stipend beneficiaries of Wild Poppy Association - the talented Romani children from all aver Slovakia. The festival is of multicultural character, organised in open-air setting. The event was recorded on 29th of August, 2013.

Lýdia Gabčová

Mgr. Lydia Gabcova graduated from the University of Konstantiv the Philospher in Nitra, specialization in the social work. After graduation she continued her education during her internships with Council of Europe and European Commission. Specialization in the Romani language was the field she studied at the University of Manchester in Great Britain. Currently, she works as the project manager of many projects ofocused on integration of Roma. The interview is about her personal and professional life as well as about the social processes which happened after 1989.

The Devilish Violin Orchestra

Jan Berky Mrenica and the Devilish Violin Orchestra, in cooperation with the Romani Association in Poland presented the concert named Music Without Borders. There played Jan Berky-Mrenica, The Devilish Violin Orchestra, Jozef Mernstein Jochymczyk from Poland and the students of the Private Middle School in Kezmarok. The concert was recorded on 2nd of December, 2013 in Kezmarok.

Romathan - A Golden Horseshoe

The theater performance for children and youth, performed on 6th of December, 2013 in the Romathan Theater. The fairy-tale is built upon the dramatic situations which occure when the magical world of the magical beings meet the real world of people. The main message of the tale is to teach the kids that love and friendship are a person's biggest fortune.

Zaneta Stipakova - Speaking

Zaneta Stipakova graduated from the Middle School of Arts in Kosice where she specialized in music and dramatic arts. She finished higher middle education there. She worked as a voice pedagogue in The Private Conservatoir in Prague and later as a teacher's assistant in elementary school in Kosice.
Currently, she is a member of the Romathan Theater. She is the actress, singer, director and also she writes her own dramas.
The interview is about her personal and professional life as well as about the Romani culture.

Balvalfest (The Wind Festival)

Every year the organisers of the festival invite the performers both from Slovakia and other countries. The video is the cut of the live performances presenting traditional and popular Romani music, the interview with the festival organisor Vladimir Sendrei is added to the final edition.

The Gypsy Devils - The Concert

The Gypsy Devils as a group of Romani musicians report 1991 as the year of birth of this formation. They are characterized by a excellent, even virtuoso interpretation of Romani music from the urban environment, classical world music, but they do not avoid cooperation with contemporary artists known from popular music. The orchestra performs often both in Slovakia and abroad, it has already played on five continents. At the concert in Prešov on 24.10.2013 in the Cinema Scala the orchestra members playing there were: singing and violoncello - Silvia Šarköziová, viola - Jozef Farkaš, double bass - Tibor Lévai, solo doublebass - Alexander Mihok, violin - Emil Hasala, clarinet and tarogato - Zoltán Grunza , cimbalom - Ernest Šarközi, primash (violin) - Štefan "Picur" Banyák.

Marco Pillo - My Love

Marco Pillo studied at Conservatory in Prague, his main subject was cimbalom. Later he also learnt playing the classical guitar. When studying in Barcelona he was introduced to the local Romani style flamenco, what greatly influenced his later performance. The digital cultural object is the video recording of him interpreting the song Amor mio/My Love from the album Volare by the Romani group Gipsy Kings.

The Bihari's Festival 2013

The Bihari’s Festival is the annual event taking place in Dunajska Streda. It’s organized by the Association of the Romani Musicians in Dunajska Streda and the Zhitny Ostrov Cultural and Educational Center. The whole idea was brought in by the local Romani violinist Stefan Banyak Sn., who still acts as the most active organizer. Janos Bihari (21.10.1764, Velke Blahovo, Slovakia – 26.4.1827, Budapest, Hungary) was one of the most known musical artists of the old Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy, popular at the royal court. As a violinist as well as composer, his creative work inspired the worldwide known composers of the era, such as Franz Liszt, or Ludwig van Beethoven. The digital cultural object contains the video documenting the gala program.
